Registration has ended

About This Event

Co-authored by Brandi LaShay and Hannah Drake, Broken Wings Still Fly is a raw and poignant theatrical experience featuring the voices of hidden heroines. Witness their remarkable stories of love, motherhood, heartbreak, resilience, and ultimate triumph. This expanded version includes new monologues, thanks to support from Brown-Forman!

On Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 3:00 PM, we are excited to release our first coloring book, Shades of Resilience, illustrated by Jaylin Stewart, founder of Monet Murals, and created by (Un)Known Project co-founders Hannah Drake and Josh Miller. This beautifully crafted coloring book celebrates Black women throughout Kentucky’s history, from enslaved heroines to modern-day leaders.

The launch will feature remarks from Hannah Drake, Josh Miller, and Jaylin Stewart, followed by a book signing and collaborative mural painting, where community members can paint illustrations from the coloring book alongside Stewart’s team. Free coloring books will be available to all attendees. A food vendor and cash bar will be available throughout the day.

A talkback discussion will take place following the performance.

Note: This production contains material of a highly sensitive nature, including sexual assault and family separation, which may be triggering for some viewers.

**While some chairs will be provided, feel free to bring a chair or blanket to sit on.
