In his book, Tablets Shattered: The End of an American Jewish Century and the Future of Jewish Life, journalist Joshua Leifer brings an eye both historical and personal to the 21st century Jewish communal experience. Leifer posits that the traditional pillars of Jewish life in the U.S. -- Americanism, Zionism, and liberalism – have fractured, met with the challenges of war, political crisis, and rising anti-Semitism.
In his conversation with IJS, Joshua will discuss the ways in which younger generations of Jews are traversing this landscape, his own personal story as a descendent of Belarussian Jewish immigrants, and the future he imagines for Jews in the United States.
