Song Circle with Cacao, 12-4 PM

In this Song Circle with Cacao, we will sit in ceremony together under the energy of  Jo’oo Iq (5 Iq). We will listen as the elders speak about the Mayan Cosmovision; our prayers  will be guided by the sacred energy of the Wind. Scarlett will lead ceremonial songs from multiple traditions around the world in a format that welcomes everyone to join their voice and sing along.

Please arrive substance free, ideally on an empty stomach, to receive the full benefit of cacao.

Sound Meditation and Soul Retrieval, 6-8 PM

If you feel called to go deeper, we invite you to also register for a Soul Retrieval ceremony with Elder Magdalena.

This is a truly rare opportunity.

Elder Magdalena is a Mayan Tz'utujil soul retrieval specialist who rarely travels outside of Guatemala; this is her first visit to the United States. To receive this healing, you would ordinarily need to make the journey to Guatemala yourself. The medicine is coming to us.

Space is intentionally limited to a small group, so that each person can be held with the care and attention this work deserves. Magdalena will be supported by her team of five additional Mayan spiritual guides.

WHAT IS A SOUL RETRIEVAL?

What is a reconnection or alignment between body and spirit?

Spirit reconnection is one of the ancestral medicines and sacred practices of the Maya people. Each ethnic group has its own way of carrying it out. For the Tz’utujil people, this is a sacred medicine and one of the most powerful healing practices within their tradition.

Soul Retrieval seeks to restore connection and balance between the body, the spirit, and a person’s vital energy.

Why and when is a Soul Retrieval performed?

For our ancestors, it is important that human beings live in alignment between body and spirit. However, at certain moments in life we may experience deeply traumatic events—such as car accidents, sexual abuse, family loss, major surgeries, or experiences of profound emotional impact. According to this tradition, these experiences can create a disconnection between a person and their soul.

Within this ancestral worldview, it is understood that a part of the spirit may remain trapped in the place where the trauma occurred.

When does a person need a reconnection?

A person may seek a Soul Retrieval after experiencing trauma, deep loneliness, depression, emotional emptiness, or unexplained health issues that have not found medical answers. There may also be other symptoms, which will be explained during the circle.

There are different practices used to call back or lift the spirit. The prayers may be performed at the location of the incident when accessible. When this is not possible, the Soul Retrieval specialist undertakes an energetic journey, spiritually connecting with the scene in order to call the spirit back to the person.

This practice is recommended to help restore alignment not only within oneself, but also with the cosmos and universal energy.

WHAT TO EXPECT

In this Soul Retrieval circle, we will begin with a brief explanation of the meaning behind this work.

Afterward, Scarlett De La Torre will offer a relaxing sound meditation to gently guide participants into the ceremony.

We will gather in sacred silence while Nana Marina, the Nanas, the Tata, and Soul Retrieval specialist Grandmother Magdalena work with ancestral energies to reconnect the spirit with the body. They will move throughout the circle, working individually with each person.

SPACE GUIDELINES

The elders will share the guidance and ceremonial protocols for the space.

Out of respect for them and for the sacred nature of this work, audio and video recording during the ceremony is strictly prohibited.

We ask that you honor this request with mindfulness and respect.

Formal address provided in event registration receipt email.
**Please check your inbox (or spam) for the receipt,  that will include detailed preparation info. It always arrives, though sometimes, it can be tricky to find!

About Scarlett de la Torre

WhatsApp Image 2026-05-12 at 21.48.27 (1).jpeg

Scarlett de la Torre is a musician, sound ceremonialist, and teaching artist whose work moves between concert stages, ceremonial containers, and indigenous communities across four continents.

She has delighted worldwide audiences at places like at Summit at Sea, Necker Island, Onda Linda, Surreal Academy, and ceremonial gatherings across the Americas.

Her path as a teacher began through service as an ambassador for Beauty for Freedom, an organization combating human trafficking through creativity and rescue operations.

Since 2018, she has taught adults with zero prior musical experience to sing and play through the AHA Sound Sanctuary. Hundreds of people have moved through her music method; music is a living force that belongs inside every person, and her life's work is helping people remember that.

Scarlett’s heart-mission is amplifying the voices of Indigenous wisdom keepers.

She has supported the ceremonial tours of indigenous leaders from the Ashaninka, Huni Kuin, and Yawanawa peoples of the Amazon. That work continues today through her role as ambassador and creative director of the concert & marketplace vision for Mayu Mission, a registered 501(c)(3) supporting the Pachanta Cultural Center in Peru and a food sovereignty program with the Huni Kuin people.

As a co-founder of Mama Ayni Collective, she works at the intersection of indigenous wisdom and high fashion, building relationships that move the fashion world toward greater awareness of where fibers come from, who makes them, and what it means to wear something with intention.
