Presented by Indianapolis Symphonic Choir

Voices of the Spirit 2026

About This Event

Our annual exploration of the intersection of singing and spirituality, VOICES OF THE SPIRIT has touched capacity audiences with messages of inspiration, hope, and peace. This year’s production combines two exciting works—first, American poet Walt Whitman’s Civil War poetry forms the basis of Jeffrey Van’s evocative composition for chorus and guitar, “A Procession Winding Around Me,” with guitarist Daniel Duarte. Then, Mozart’s timeless Requiem, left incomplete at the time of his death, shares its dramatic message and plea for peace. Featuring soprano Gabriela Martinez, mezzo-soprano Mitzi Westra, tenor Thomas Cooley, and bass Ron Dukes.

Join us at 2:15 PM before the concert for Words on Music with Artistic Director Eric Stark, guitarist Daniel Duarte, and tenor Thomas Cooley.

A dessert reception will follow the concert.
