Diwali, the festival of lights, traditionally celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. In this compelling session, renowned activist Sunita Viswanath invites us to look at Diwali through the lens of intersectional faith, social justice, and human rights. How do we move from personal celebration to collective action? How can ancient principles guide us in fighting for the rights of the marginalized today? Sunita will share insights from her life’s work, exploring how the spirit of Diwali calls us to show up for global human rights and build absolute alignment between our values and our actions.

Sunita Viswanath has dedicated over 30 years to championing women’s rights and human rights globally. She is the co-founder of Hindus for Human Rights (June 2019) and Sadhana: Coalition of Progressive Hindus (2011), an organization designed to mobilize Hindu Americans to connect their faith directly to social justice.

We'll send a reminder on the day of the session with the link to attend again.
We’ll open the Zoom ten minutes before the session so you can settle into the space before the session begins.
We'll also stay online for about 15 minutes after the session for an informal time of sharing and for anyone who would like to build further connection.

The honoraria for our session leaders and our operating expenses are supported by members and friends of Alignment. This enables our sessions to be open to anyone who wishes to attend and accessible to all who may not have the resources to support the work of Alignment.
