Intermediate Yidishe Kinder Giml Reading Course with Gustavo Emos and Clara Greif

Course Goals: This course is based on selected stories from Yidishe Kinder Giml and is intended for students who already have a solid foundation in Yiddish and would like to improve their reading fluency, expand their vocabulary, and strengthen their understanding of grammar. Together, we will read a selection of stories from Yidishe Kinder Giml, focusing on vocabulary, grammar, and discussion. All readings are different from those used in the Summer 2026 edition, so students who took the summer course are warmly encouraged to enroll.

Course Tools: Students will receive a PDF containing all selected readings with notes and a glossary, as well as audio recordings of every story for review between classes. Those who prefer may also use the original book.

Additional Info: Classes will alternate weekly between Gustavo Emos and Clara Greif. This course is intended for students with a strong beginner or intermediate foundation in Yiddish who feel very comfortable reading in the Yiddish alphabet.
