Dolly Parton's Imagination Library - Matching Grant Fundraiser

About This Fundraiser

A child’s first book can open doors to a lifetime of reading. Your support makes that possible. The Wyoming Community Foundation has offered a $5,000 matching grant to help keep Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library available in Uinta and Fremont Counties—but we need you to unlock it. Give today and your donation will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling the impact for local children and families.

Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, enrolled children will be mailed one free, age appropriate, book each month. Research shows that reading aloud is the single most important thing you can do to help a child prepare for reading and learning. This program helps increase reading aloud to children.

United Way of Southwest Wyoming raises funds to pay for the shipping of the books, promotes the program and registers the children and manages the database. From there, the Dollywood Foundation manages the shipping of the books.

Having access to books and reading aloud has numerous benefits to a child; reading aloud builds literacy skills, language and brain development. The number of words that a child knows upon entering kindergarten is a key predictor of his or her future success.
