About This Event
Hike to Sentinel Point at sundown to watch the sun set over the ocean and the full moon rise over the mountains!
Come greet the "Buck" Moon with us atop Sentinel Point.
We will meet at the parking lot and watch the sunset colors from the picnic area. From there we will take a slow walk up to Sentinel Pt to listen to the night sounds of the ocean, howl at the coyotes, listen for owls, and lie back and watch the full moon rise over the hills as the ocean swallows the last of the daylight.
The walk is about 2 miles with 700' of elevation gain.
We will be walking back to our vehicles in the dark. Please bring a flashlight. Kids welcome.
Suggested Items to Bring:
- Drinking water or hot tea
- Closed-toed shoes
- Hiking Poles
- Binoculars
- Flashlight
- lots of layers - could be dripping with fog or crystal clear
