About This Event

Gather the Scattered
an Iona Community experience in North America

February 20-26, 2027
Kanuga Conference Center, Hendersonville, NC
with John Bell and Sally Ann Morris

More rooms added!

Gather the Scattered invites Members, Associates, Friends, and enquirers of the Iona Community to come together for a week shaped by the rhythms of work, rest, and worship that have long grounded life at Iona Abbey.

Guided by worship and program leader John Bell and musician Sally Ann Morris, this week offers space to encourage, enliven, and enable the growth and mission of the Iona Community in North America. Through shared prayer, conversation, music, silence, learning, pilgrimage, and community life, we will reflect on what it means to be scattered yet connected—and how we are being called to live faithfully where we are.

Held at Kanuga Conference Center, this retreat takes place within a landscape that invites both contemplation and connection. Established in 1928 and affiliated with The Episcopal Church, Kanuga is a non-profit conference, retreat, and camp center serving thousands each year. Its historic setting spans 1,400 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains, featuring a 30-acre lake, 20 miles of walking and hiking trails, and welcoming lodging and meeting spaces designed to support communal life.

This week offers time to step away from the demands of daily life, deepen relationships, and renew commitment to the Iona Community’s vision of justice, peace, and the rebuilding of community.
