Why this race?

Karaoke5K was born out of a desire to keep a young boy‘s memory ALIVE. A childhood cancer called neuroblastoma took Nnamdi from his family at age 3. Nnamdi‘s mom will tell you the greatest gift she has is her ongoing ability to share his experiences and personality with anyone willing to listen. In spite of her own grief, Nnamdi‘s mom was confronted with the realization that there are young warriors fighting everyday through harsh treatments, side effects from those treatments, and long-term physiologic and psychological traumas from the cancer diagnosis and hope for a cure. In her, a fire and a song of hope were kindled to fight, support, bring awareness and funds for the research advancements that will allow children to survive and thrive. This race is not only #forNnamdi, but for all our kids who are fighting daily to live.“Warriors are counting on us. We must do our part to help them LIVE.“ - Nnamdi‘s mom, Ezioma Azubuike

Who is  Beat Childhood Cancer?

The Beat Childhood Cancer Foundation was founded more than a decade ago by parents and is still run by parents today. It is because of a shared vision that they came together to change the story of childhood cancer for the next family by funding viable treatments and, ultimately, cures today, not a decade from now. With more than 50 children‘s hospitals and research institutions nationwide and now internationally, part of the Beat Childhood Cancer Research Consortium, real advances are being made in how cancer is being treated in kids. A network of medical experts is bringing hope to every child, everywhere through true translational medicine and personalized care as unique as the child.

With a song of gratitude in our hearts, thank you for joining with us to help every child, everywhere survive and thrive #forNnamdi with golden hope.
