Kieslowski’s Decalogue: A Masterpiece of Religious Cinema

About This Event

Tuesdays, July 9, 16, 23, 30 & August 20  |  Adath Jeshurun Congregation, 10500 Hillside Lane West, Mtka  |  7-9pm (Doors open at 6:45pm)  | Free

"The cinema event of the decade." That’s how a ten-part series loosely based on the Ten Commandments was hailed upon its first screenings across the globe. The famed director said it this way: "Everyone seems to accept the Ten Commandments as a kind of moral basis, and everyone breaks them daily. Just the attempt to respect them is already a major achievement. If I had to formulate the message of my Decalogue, I'd say, Live carefully, with your eyes open, and try not to cause pain.”

Join us for a unique opportunity to view the films and engage in dialogue with our community’s rabbis and Lutheran pastors.  Invite your friends and neighbors to join you.

An interfaith venture sponsored by Adath Jeshurun Congregation, Bet Shalom Congregation, Hineni (the adult learning center of St. Paul’s Jewish community) and Westwood Lutheran Church.

Schedule:

6:45pm - doors open

7pm - film screening

8pm - clergy response

8:30pm - table discussions (& ice cream)
