Read for a Greener Akron Event

This summer, local author Dina Younis teams up with Keep Akron Beautiful for Read for a Greener Akron, a six-week family reading and sustainability challenge.

The kickoff is May 30 at Hardesty Park with a storytime of S is for Secondhand, hands-on sustainability activities, and challenge passports to guide participants. Local business 'Tansy Recycling' will also be having a table to showcase how they transform waste into functional, beautiful items!

Schedule: 

10:30 - Welcome

10:45-11:15 - Story time 

11:15- 12:30 - Crafts, passport pickup, visit with vendors

Over six weeks, families complete simple eco-friendly actions at home, like donating, reusing, planting, and picking up litter. Completed passports earn a small prize and entry into a raffle for a larger family prize basket.

*If you cannot pickup a passport from the event, passports can be picked up at Keep Akron Beautiful, Woven Words Bookshop, Goodwill on Waterloo, Towpath Credit Union, and all Akron Public Library locations
