Presented by King County Play Equity Coalition

August KCPEC All-Member Event: Kayak + Beach Cleanup (MORNING SESSION)

About This Event

Focus: Kayaking the Duwamish River with River Access Paddle Program (RAPP)!

Date: Thursday, August 20th

Time: 9am-11am

Location: Kenyon St/ Waterway Park

TRIP SUMMARY

Deepen your understanding of the impact people have on the land, water and air. We are excited to have you join us to learn more about the ecosystem, the Duwamish tribe and conservation efforts.

TRIP DESCRIPTION

This paddle and clean up will loop around the Duwamish river and see sites relevant to the King County Play Equity Coalition. On the tour, we will likely see Osprey, Eagles, Seals, Purple Martins, Terns and other wildlife.

This is rated as an easy paddle. No experience needed. You can expect a casual pace, with plenty of opportunities to rest if needed. We will do our best to pair people up with experienced folks, and remember, you will always be in a group.

You can also anticipate getting your feet wet at some point, I highly recommend wearing synthetic/athletic clothing (avoid heavy cotton and jeans). Old sneakers or water shoes are recommended since you will be getting in and out of the kayaks on slippery and muddy surfaces, for safety reasons, no crocs or flip flops are allowed.

All kayak equipment will be provided including personal flotation devices and dry bags. Please read the weather forecast, dress and plan accordingly. Don’t forget to bring a water bottle and sunscreen.
