About This Event
Saturday, December 6th, 9AM - 10:30AM
At the base of the Manhattan Beach Pier
Free and open to all ages!
Join the Roundhouse Aquarium team, naturalists, and scientists to document the King Tides of 2025 and learn why these extreme tides matter! Visual data collected through community science will support the California Coastal Commission's annual King Tide Project. Together, we’ll observe the ocean in action and explore how rising seas impact our coast and community.
Experience one of nature’s most dramatic high tides, a King Tide, created when the sun, moon, and Earth align. Participants will help document how rising sea levels impact the California coastline. Bring your camera or phone to capture the tide and share your photos for this community science effort.
What to Bring:
☀️ Sunglasses and a hat
📸 Camera or phone for photos
🥤 Reusable water bottle or thermos
🧥 Warm layers, as it can be chilly near the pier
To learn more about King Tides and how to submit your photos, visit www.coastal.ca.gov/kingtides.
Complementary hot beverage and light snacks will be provided while supplies last.
Donations are suggested and welcomed to help us continue to provide educational events in the community, to students, and visitors to visit the Roundhouse Aquarium year-round free of charge. Thank you!
This program is hosted by Oceanographic Teaching Stations, Inc.
