About the Arc of The Piedmont
The Arc of the Piedmont is a non-profit organization whose aim is to build a future where all people with developmental disabilities and their families experience their best lives possible!
We were founded in 1954 in Charlottesville, Virginia, by a group of parents and friends advocating for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Inspired by the national movement that led to the founding of The Arc in 1950, the organization was formed to ensure community inclusion and support for individuals with disabilities. Its history is rooted in the belief that these individuals deserve dignity and opportunity, and its work has continued for decades through advocacy and programs.
Our chapter serves individuals through day support services, the Arc Studio, residential programs and sponsored residential services in Charlottesville, as well as in surrounding areas including Nelson, Albemarle, and Louisa Counties.
Our annual spring gala is our biggest fundraiser, hosting 350 people at the fabulous Kimpton Forum Hotel! This event is geared toward people who are focused on supporting our local cause, while also enjoying an elegant atmosphere. Year-over-year events have included engaging activities such as casino games, auctions, and raffles, five star dinner and open bar. Join us for a great night out and you’ll experience our 2026 theme, “Springtime In Paris."
All funds raised at the Gala support the work of The Arc, helping Charlottesville neighbors with disabilities and their families thrive.
Your support for our gala is a partnership rooted in shared values. We look forward working together to create a lasting, positive change!
