DeOri Jemar Newman Sr., born September 13, 1984. Born and raised in Abilene Texas, where he attended school in AISD and graduated from Abilene High School. Shortly after graduation DeOri met the love of his life Leslie. They got married in 2007, and they have four beautiful children two boys and two girls. DeOri accepted his calling into the ministry and preached his first sermon March 2008 at New Light Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Eddy Jordan. Shortly after, he was called to Pastor Ash Street Baptist Church. Where he presided as the Pastor for 12 years. During his time at Ash Street, DeOri started a small business “Newman’s Power Clean”, he obtained a certification as an Emergency Medical Technician Basic. He also obtained his Associates Degree from Tyler Junior College, and his Bachelors in Religious Studies from McMurry University (Go War Hawks). During his time at McMurry, he served as the Black Student Union President his junior year. He also served as the President of the Greater Abilene Ministers Alliance for two terms. Shortly after graduation DeOri became the Pastor of his home church New Light Baptist Church. DeOri is very exited to see what the Lord has in store for his future. He is currently in between studies at ACU for his Master’s in Divinity.
