IB learners strive to be inquirers, thinkers, communicators, risk-takers, knowledgeable, principled, open-minded, caring, balanced, and reflective. Teachers organize the curriculum through five areas of interaction: approaches to learning, community and service, human ingenuity, environment, and health & social education.

How Is Lakeland Supporting This Initiative ?
Lakeland Vision was formed to implement a community-led, action oriented plan to maintain and enhance an outstanding quality of life for Lakeland citizens. A main strategy for this group is to support the initiation of an academic ally challenging middle school education program. Lakeland Vision acknowledges that the creation of an MYP at Lawton Chiles Middle Academy will represent a significant step to further improve educational delivery opportunities for our students.
The Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce has shown their support by creating a resolution about the MYP at Lawton Chiles Middle Academy. They have identified several positive outcomes of the MYP initiative including enhancing Lakeland âs ability to attract and retain businesses in our local community.
