Join us on May 18 for the inaugural chamber concert of a three-part series, an intimate evening dedicated to illuminating the enduring legacy of Holocaust remembrance through music and poetry.
“Words, Music, Memory: (Re)presenting the Voice of the Holocaust,” brings together works by acclaimed composers Lori Laitman and Jake Heggie that explore the depth of memory and the resilience of the human spirit. Through the intimate interplay of voice and instrumental colors, the program seeks to give voice to the silenced stories of the past while forging connections with present and future generations. Each piece is a testament to the enduring human spirit and the crucial act of remembering.

Lori Laitman – Ocean of Eternity
For soprano, oboe, and piano that unfolds through four evocative movements:
- The Ocean of Eternity

- The Morning was Blue
- Wild Flowers
Lori Laitman – I Never Saw Another Butterfly
Soprano and English horn. This work, inspired by the poignant creativity of children in the Holocaust, unfolds in multiple movements:
- The Butterfly
- Yes, That's the Way Things Are
- Birdsong
- The Garden
- Man Proposes, God Disposes
- The Old House
