Annual Meeting 2025

About This Event

The Historical Society's Annual meeting will feature a presentation by Victoria Bitrick and Will Rouke of UVA's Architectural History program. The presentation will discuss the 3D documentation of Sylvania in Green Springs, utilizing 3D laser scanning to document and analyze the architectural design of Sylvania. Research combined 3D data and material evidence at Sylvania to discover the original floor plan of Sylvania and its subsequent additions.

Speakers:

Victoria Bitrick is a graduate student in the Architectural History Department at the University of Virginia. Victoria graduated with a Bachelor in Architectural History from the University of Virginia last spring with her thesis focusing on Sylvania. Victoria is working on her master's degree in architectural history and is conducting more field work in Green Springs for her next thesis.

Will Rourk is currently the 3D data and content specialist with the Scholars’ Lab at the University of Virginia Library.  He has a background in Architecture from Virginia Tech and Architectural History from the University of Virginia. He has over 20 years experience in 3D modeling, and 10 years experience with 3D data and GIS. He has been a chief architectural consultant for the Tibetan and Himalayan Library (UVA) with whom he has done field research into the preservation of historic buildings of the Tibetan capital city of Lhasa.
