LVA Artist Resource Series 3: Protecting Your Work - Copyright Basics and Intellectual Property

Louisville Visual Art (LVA) is proud to announce the return of the Artist Resource Series! Originally launched online during the COVID-19 pandemic to connect local creators with sector experts, this newly reimagined series brings artists together in person to build skills, share knowledge, and foster community.

To shape this relaunch, we gathered feedback from local creators about the real-world challenges they face in today’s evolving legal, economic, and technological landscape—including emerging topics like AI. The message was clear: artists want practical guidance on the business side of art. Built directly on this community input, the series equips artists at every career level with essential tools to build sustainable, long-term practices.

What to Expect

Each 2-hour session is thoughtfully structured for learning and connection:

• 1-Hour Presentation: Deep-dive into practical tools and strategies with leading industry professionals.

• 30-Minute Q&A: Get targeted insights during a Q&A session, shaped by advance attendee questions.

• 30-Minute Networking: Connect with fellow local artists over light refreshments.

Key Highlights:

• In-Person Connection: Sessions are hosted at Louisville Visual Art (1538 Lytle St.), complete with light refreshments for attendees to network and connect with peers.

• Can't Attend In Person? Full video recordings of each presentation will be published on our website and YouTube channel following the event, allowing artists across Kentucky and beyond to learn on their own schedule.

• Community-Informed Content: Registrants are invited to submit questions during sign-up. These will be shared with presenters ahead of time for consideration as they build their talks and plan the post-presentation Q&A.

Registration & Suggested Donation

• Free Admission (Registration Required): Registering in advance (for both in-person and online) allows you to submit questions directly to presenters before the session and ensures you receive the full video recording and recap resources after the event.

• Attendance Courtesy: Because refreshments are prepared based on headcount, please let us know if your plans change and you can no longer attend in-person.

• Pay What You Can: While these sessions are free to all, a suggested donation of $10–$20 helps LVA continue offering high-quality, accessible resources to our creative community.
