This means that you do not need to donate to use the Mac Admins Slack. The Foundation will do everything in their power to ensure that the Slack (or whatever future platform may arise) will remain open in perpetuity.

Q: What is the Mac Admins Foundation Membership Program?

A: The Mac Admins Foundation Membership Program is a donation-based initiative that enables Mac Admins to set up recurring monthly or annual contributions to support the Foundation. Donors may receive small rewards if they wish. The program's goal is twofold: to provide Mac Admins with a way to financially support the Foundation's efforts and to foster a sense of community ownership of the Slack platform.

Q: What does my donation go toward?

A: The Foundation uses all donations to advance our stated mission. This includes funding the Mac Admins Slack, offering scholarships, and covering necessary overhead costs.

Q: I'm already a monthly/annual donor, will my donation be moved to this new program automatically?

A: No. Existing recurring donors have been contacted via email with instructions on how to transition to our new processor. After December 1st, all recurring donations with our previous processor (Donorbox) will be canceled. To continue your support, please restart your recurring donation using the new form at https://macadmins.org/join. If you have any questions, please contact giving@macadmins.org.

Q: Is there an option to opt out of rewards?

A: Yes! This option was added based on feedback from our community survey. When making your donation, simply check the box to Opt out of all physical rewards. You'll still receive our digital rewards (newsletters and a digital membership card).

Q: Is there an option to opt out of recognition?

A: Yes! Your privacy is important to us. During initial donation -- or after the fact, by logging back into Qgiv -- you can check the box to not have your donation publicly credited. Note that this will also make it that your name is not shared on our website even if you are at the $50+ tiers.

Q: Why is the membership program only open during certain dates?

A: The Mac Admins Foundation is entirely volunteer-run, and managing rewards on an ongoing basis is a significant undertaking. Unfortunately, we're not equipped to handle this at scale. By holding several membership drives throughout the year, we can ensure we deliver on promised rewards. This approach should also allow us to offer more and better rewards in the future.
