
Martin Family Scholarship Endowment

Candis M. Martin, daughter, sister, aunt, mentor and friend, passed away on July 6, 2026, at the age of 91. Candis is survived by her loving children, Cynthia and Craig Martin; and her adored grandchild, Dominic Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Martin and daughter Michele Martin.
Candis was a lifelong educator and mentor. She began her teaching career in the Detroit Public Schools and transitioned to Schoolcraft College in its preliminary years in August 1965. Candis began as an instructor in business, accounting, and math related courses. In July 1984, she transitioned to Assistant Dean Math/CIS/Business dedicating over 30 years in all to Schoolcraft College, retiring in June 1997. That same year, she was also recognized as an Emeritus Recipient for her contributions to the College. Post retirement, Candis also taught several continuing education courses from 1997 – 2002.
Candis was a beloved teacher and administrator – always putting her students and staff first, where she was instrumental in championing staff members into succeedingly more progressive roles and responsibilities at the college. She will also leave a continuing impression on Schoolcraft College through her enduring and charitable support of the Schoolcraft College Foundation.
