About This Event
Join us for a 6-week grief support group designed to provide connection, healing, and support for those navigating the loss of a loved one, human or animal.
This grief group is a supportive space where you can find connection and healing related to the loss of a loved one. We will work with somatic practices, breathwork, engage with the five senses, creative expression, and relational connection with people and horses to explore our experience with grief. Throughout, we will offer ourselves permission to be present with the full emotional range of our loss.
Each session includes grounding activities, time with the horses, and a facilitated circle for check-in and reflection. Participants will also receive social-emotional teachings that explore the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors commonly experienced throughout the grief process.
6 Week Progression:
-
Exploring relational contact: Participants will get to know the herd of horses and mini animals through relational connection, including sharing space and grooming. We will explore what supports connection and what may block it during the grief process.
-
The many dimensions of grief, and how they show up in our nervous system: We will notice the different aspects of our grief and work toward “congruence” with the different emotional states through a leading exercise with horses.
-
The journey of our grief: Using a labyrinth, participants will engage in a meditation focused on the personal journey of grief. Art supplies will be available to create a visual representation of an aspect of that journey.
-
Releasing what needs to be released: Participants will support horses in releasing tension using the Masterson Method, while reflecting on how they themselves hold and release tension.
-
Trust & the Window of Tolerance: Through a blind leading exercise, participants will explore trust, vulnerability, and their individual window of tolerance.
-
Being held: We will close with a mounted session with horses, where we will explore how it feels to yield into being supported by another being.
