We believe that God has called us together, as a people, under the Lordship of His Son, Jesus Christ, to live a life together in the power of the Holy Spirit, in Christian community. We believe that what we are doing together is not simply a matter of our own desires, but of God's call to a covenant relationship with Him. He is offering to be our God and He is asking that we be a people set apart for Him and for His purposes in the world.(Exodus 19:5-6; I Peter 2:9-10)
We believe that God wishes to form in us the life of heaven, to be a visible manifestation in the world of that City whose builder and maker is God. We recognize that this endeavor will require the offering of our whole selves to God that the way we live might not continue to be shaped by this world, but be transformed by the renewal of our minds in God's truth.(Revelations 21:1-3; Romans 12:12)
We are called to proclaim the Lordship of Jesus, not only by sharing the gospel, but also through personal formation and catechesis. Put simply, our call is to be and to raise saints, both in our families and in society at large. God has called us to be obedient to the Great Commission, seeking to make disciples and lead others to obey Jesus as Lord. Our call is to reflect the character of Jesus Christ in how we pray, how we share the gospel, and especially in how we love one another.(John 13:34)
We are called to be a community. By living a life together based on commitment rather than convenience and service rather than self-centeredness, we bear witness to the character of God. We want to live in faithfulness to our covenant with God and one another, treasuring and protecting our love for one another, speaking and acting in a way that honors others. As stated in our covenant, we "agree to love, honor, support, and serve one another as brothers and sisters in the Lord."
