Growing Minds in an AI World Protecting Curiosity, Critical Thinking, and Mental Health

This year's breakfast features a panel discussion with experts representing behavioral health, pediatric medicine, Frederick County Public Schools, and the technology industry. Together, they will explore how AI is shaping childhood and adolescence and offer practical guidance for raising thoughtful, resilient young people in an increasingly digital world.

Together, we'll discuss:

· How AI is becoming part of young people's daily lives often in ways adults don't fully recognize.

· The difference between healthy AI use that enhances learning and creativity and unhealthy reliance on AI for identity, emotional support or important life decisions.

· Why children and adolescents are uniquely vulnerable as their brains continue developing critical thinking, emotional regulation and decision-making skills.

· Practical strategies, conversation starters and healthy boundaries that families, educators and communities can use to help young people navigate AI safely and confidently.

We believe AI is an incredible tool with enormous potential. Our goal is not to create fear, but to empower our community to raise young people who use technology intentionally and responsibly while preserving the creativity, curiosity, critical thinking and human connection that allow them to thrive.
