About This Event
This one‑day field workshop trains participants to assess pollinator habitat across land‑use types using two standardized protocols: the Pollinator Scorecard and the Integrated Monarch Monitoring Program (IMMP). Designed for biological monitors, field biologists, and environmental consultants, it provides intensive, hands‑on training in defensible pollinator monitoring methods used by more than 20 federal and state agencies and numerous NGOs. Both protocols qualify for compliance reporting under the Monarch CCAA, federal grant reporting, and other habitat assessment needs.
Participants will establish survey plots, score habitat attributes, and document threats and improvement opportunities. They will also complete IMMP monitoring for milkweed and blooming plants (Activity 1), monarch eggs and larvae (Activity 2), and adult monarchs (Activity 3). The workshop includes training on the Monarch Joint Venture data portal for submitting surveys, comparing sites to the national IMMP database, and generating client‑ready reports.
All participants receive an MJV certificate of completion demonstrating field‑ready skills in standardized data collection, data submission, and report generation. They also gain access to a curated digital resource folder and MJV’s online learning platform, the NECTAR Hub.
This workshop is hosted by the Monarch Joint Venture and Desert Shield Environmental Professionals.
