Join Us for an Evening of Legacy & Leadership on September 29, 2025
The Mortar & Pestle Society invites you to a milestone celebration honoring 90 years of preserving pharmacy history and civic heritage through the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum. This gala will bring together national pharmacy leaders, preservation advocates, civic partners, and local supporters for a shared evening of connection, celebration, and shared purpose.
Held at the iconic George Washington Masonic National Memorial, the event includes guided rooftop viewing opportunities throughout the night—offering breathtaking panoramic views of Alexandria and Washington, D.C.
This celebration coincides with the Joint Commission of Pharmacy Practitioners (JCPP) meeting, providing a chance to engage with association CEOs, presidents, and senior leaders in pharmacy from across the country
Join us for an incredible cocktail party with that includes a historical look back, drinks, and heavy hors d'oeuvres.

Why This Matters
Established in 1792, The Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum served historic figures like George and Martha Washington. When it closed in the 1930s, concerned citizens gathered together to form the Legacy Society, stepped in to preserve the building and its contents – over 20,000 artifacts and original documents.
Since 1935, the now named Mortar & Pestle Society has supported this the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary through:
- Conservation and preservation of rare objects and archives
- Educational programming for youth and adults
- Exhibit enhancement and historical interpretation
- Broader museum operations in partnership with the Office of Historic Alexandria
Proceeds from this gala directly support the Mortar & Pestle Society’s mission, ensuring the Apothecary Museum remains preserved and accessible for future generations.
The Mortar & Pestle Society is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and the official friends group of the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum. Your sponsorship or ticket purchase may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
