When: Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 2:00-3:30 pm
Where: 333 Howell Mill Road, Waynesville, NC 28786
This is a no cost event. Please RSVP by Wednesday, March 4
Program begins promptly at 2:30 pm. Event will be held outside, rain or shine. Please dress for the weather. Light refreshments to be served.
Parking & Shuttle: Due to limited parking onsite, we are providing shuttle service from the Ingles Markets parking lot at 259 Barber Boulevard, which is short distance from the Balsam Edge project site. Please plan your arrival to accommodate a brief shuttle ride.
Join us to celebrate the start of construction for Balsam Edge, MHO's newest affordable apartment community! Balsam Edge is an 84-unit community located on a new 5-acre site at Howell Mill Road in Waynesville, North Carolina. This marks a significant milestone as MHO’s first affordable development in Haywood County. This highly walkable, amenity-rich community will feature 1, 2, and 3-bedroom apartments and will serve renters who earn from 40% to 60% of Area Median Income (AMI).
Special thanks to Balsam Edge's financing partners: Bellwether Enterprise, CAHEC, CFWNC Pigeon River Fund, Dogwood Health Trust, NCORR and Haywood County, the NC Housing Finance Agency, NeighborWorks America, and Self-Help Credit Union Ventures Fund. Housing Studio is the project’s architect, Civil Design Concepts is the civil design partner, and WEAVERCOOKE is the construction partner and general contractor. Balsam Edge is tentatively slated to open in the winter of 2027.
