EMOJI: The Hieroglyphs of Our Time, or how I learned to stop worrying and send the risky text ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

About This Event

It starts with  🏄🏽‍♀️ and ends with 🎈. Part love letter, part stand-up set, and part iPhone commercial (jk), take a roadtrip through space and time to discover whether emoji are a universal form of communication or a fractured society’s cry for help. It will have you like 🤣, but also like 🥺!

In this hilarious, punchy, and certainly ADHD-friendly show, Aarushi Agni — known for her work across comedy, storytelling, and music — blends her passions into a nerdy deep dive into emoji and their fascinating role in our world (and the risky texts that keep us connected). She takes us through the linguistic quirks of these little symbols and connects them to our political and personal landscape as she grapples with mortality. Sell-out debut at ProjectoFest 2024, and ‘Total Sell Out’ award at NYC Fringe 2025.

Performance Times:
Note: This performance has two separate locations.
Saturday, October 25 at 3 PM - ADS Warehouse (105 Ann Street)
Sunday, October 26 at 3 PM - Lobby at the Ritz (107 Broadway)

  • Aarushi Agni, Writer & Performer
