What stories do we tell about ourselves, and why? In this highly interactive performance, memoirist-turned-fiction-writer Donna Minkowitz shares selections from all three of her "defiant, playful, dark and funny" books (Kirkus) and invites the audience to come up with on-the-spot micro-memoirs and micro-fiction stories about themselves. Along the way, we discuss how we "make ourselves up" and how we play with the stories that we tell about ourselves. The audience will have opportunities to write, to share their writing, and to join the discussion.
Donna Minkowitz is the winner of a Lambda Literary Award, a GLAAD Media Award, an Exceptional Merit Media Award, and an Art Omi residency fellowship. Her memoirs include Ferocious Romance: What My Encounters With The Right Taught Me About Sex, God, And Fury and Growing Up Golem. Her autofiction novel is Donnaville.
