The Heckers

About This Event

"The Heckers" is based on the true story of one family's life in the 19th century. It follows the story of Franz and Caroline's immigration from Wurtemberg to New York in the mid 1800s, and their subsequent journey to St. Louis. Everything seems perfect until...The Civil War.

Their son, Frank J.Hecker, enlisted in the army, became instrumental in building the intercontinental railroad, and later Superintendent of Railroads for Thomas Cornell. It is here that he meets Charles Lang Freer and they become lifelong friends, business partners and hatch a multimillion dollar idea...

A multimedia feast for the senses, brought to you by an accomplished group of performers, "The Heckers" combines live music, shadow puppetry, audience interaction and dramatic scenes to tell a tale of joy, sadness, fear and love that is as relevant today as it was 150 years ago.
