VIRAL is a postindustrial dithyramb, a monologue for a chorus. This is a new piece that explores the form of the Greek chorus to explore contemporary patriarchy and stereotypes of masculinity and their metaphorical and real connections to viral mass media and political movements. The work uses text borrowed from sports talk radio, podcasts, and news interviews with contemporary political and media figures and mashes them up it into the Greek mythological story of King Agamemnon's sacrifice of his daughter Iphigenia at the beginning of the Trojan War.
