The Newtown Creek Alliance has endeavored to Reveal, Restore, and Revitalize Newtown Creek for over 20 years. Our work is made possible through partnerships with community members, local businesses, environmental organizations, agencies, and schools. At this year’s Tidal Toast we are thrilled to celebrate and honor our partnership with LaGuardia Community College.
The evening will take place aboard the Royal Princess, a chartered boat departing from and returning to Greenpoint, which will travel the course of Newtown Creek throughout the event, connecting attendees to the waterway and site of many of LaGuardia’s past and current efforts.
For years the professors, students, and faculty of LaGuardia have been key advocates in fighting for a cleaner, more accessible, and more resilient Newtown Creek. Located just a block from the Dutch Kills tributary, the school has partnered with NCA, and a number of other local organizations, to pilot a variety of education, restoration, and planning projects to improve the waterway. The college truly embodies NCA's mission to Reveal, Restore, and Revitalize Newtown Creek which is why we are honoring them with all three awards this year.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Dress: Festive attire! Please note that the event is on a boat, which will be traveling along Newtown Creek during the event. There will be opportunities to be both inside and outside. Please dress appropriately for the weather.
Auction: We have a range of fantastic auction items available, so come prepared to bid. Donors include: Brooklyn Craft Company, Citibike, Crest Hardware, Devin Rahal, Greenpoint Pilates Studio, Highgate Hotels, Lobster Joint, Ovenly, Patagonia, Press Modern Massage, Radio Bakery, Tandem NYC, and more!
