About This Event
What is What’s Your Everest?
What’s Your Everest is an inclusive, all-abilities team effort - a community hike unlike anything else you've experienced! You can come solo and join a group, or you can bring your own rope team to hike with. Either way, you’ll make some new friends, help support our mission to spread the No Barriers mindset, and enjoy outstanding views and beautiful surroundings along the way.
Event Overview:
Participants will arrive in the Winter Park base area between 8:30-9:00 a.m. to check in and enjoy a hot breakfast at West Portal Lodge. At 9:15 a.m., we will kick things off with a pre-hike program to get you stoked for the day. After we are sufficiently excited and ready to go, we will move outside to meet up with our rope teams. When everyone is ready, we will send teams one at a time to begin their hike.
Hike Overview:
The hike is 3.9 miles long and goes from the base area to the top of the Winter Park Gondola. You will gain roughly 1500 feet of elevation over the course of the hike. The hike takes place on a maintained service road (packed dirt and gravel), with an accessible portable restroom located roughly half way up the trail. There will be three water/snack stations where you can check in with hike volunteers. The lodge at the summit also offers restrooms and provisions for purchase. Participants will ride the gondola back down to the base area, where we will all meet for a celebratory lunch.
Never hiked before? No Problem! Your "Rope Team" will help and support you along the way. This is event is designed for all abilities and experience levels.
Are you an avid hiker? Great! The core focus of this hike is on community building and supporting each other. A good time will be had by all!
Available Support:
We are here to support you in accomplishing your goals. We have a range of adaptive equipment available for loan. Please let us know during the registration process if there's anything we can do to support you - whether you need a guide, equipment, a morale boost, a more robust briefing about the event, or anything else.
