Join us for a tour of the Stargate, OpenAI and Oracle's AI Data Center Campus, and Abilene Christian University (ACU)'s Molten Salt Research Reactor (MSRR) in Abilene, Texas, co-hosted by the Texas Energy & Climate Caucus and PowerHouse Texas, as well as Oracle, OpenAI and Crusoe.
 
Step inside Abilene and leave with a clearer picture of the policy choices facing Texas as it balances innovation, competitiveness and infrastructure resilience in an AI-driven economy.  Participate in a behind-the-scenes tour of one of Texas’ largest next-generation data center campuses and see the country's only molten salt nuclear project with an NRC permit.

Reserve your spot now! This tour, including complimentary transportation and hotel room, is limited to 30 legislators and staff. Staffers and other prospective attendees who wish to attend without a legislator may register and will be accepted based on a randomized lottery selection.
 
Preliminary Agenda:
Day 1 (Thursday, April 16):
  • 9:00 AM: Charter bus departs from Texas Capitol to Abilene. 
  • 12:45 PM: Charter bus picks up local attendees and Stargate team at the DoubleTree Abilene (500 Cypress St, Abilene, TX 79601).
  • 1:00-4:00 PM: Lunch and tour of Stargate Data Center. Dress code: Comfy closed-toe shoes, long pants preferred.
  • 4:30 PM: Arrive at DoubleTree Abilene, check in and relax (500 Cypress St, Abilene, TX 79601).
  • 5:30 PM: Bus departs for dinner from DoubleTree Abilene
  • 6:00-8:30 PM: Dinner at Perini Ranch Steakhouse (3002 FM 89, Buffalo Gap, TX 79508). Dress code: Formal.
Day 2 (Friday, April 17):
  • 8:00-9:00 AM: Breakfast
  • 9:00-10:20 AM: Texas Energy Policy Workshop
  • 10:20-10:35 AM: Bus takes attendees to Abilene Christian University (ACU)'s Molten Salt Research Reactor (MSRR).
  • 10:35-12:00 PM: Tour of ACU Molten Salt Research Reactor (949 EN 16th, Abilene, TX 79601).
  • 12:15 PM: Boxed lunches distributed, bus departs Abilene for Austin.
  • 3:30 PM: Arrive back at Texas State Capitol

Stargate Tour
Through a tour of OpenAI and Oracle's AI Data Center Campus, attendees will gain firsthand insight into the scale, operational realities and infrastructure demands of a modern data center. As one of the fastest-growing sources of electricity demand in Texas, data centers are reshaping ERCOT planning, transmission development and local resource use. For those using individual transportation to this tour, an address will be provided upon registration. 
 
Legislative Dinner Reception
On Thursday evening, guests will get to see why Abilene is famous for their sunsets at an exclusive legislative dinner at Perini's Steakhouse in Buffalo Gap, right outside of Abilene. Dinner will be provided for all attendees.
 
Texas Energy Policy Workshop
On the morning of Friday the 17th, we will host a hands-on policy workshop focused on framing and generating strong policy ideas at the intersection of data center innovation, energy-water use, and workforce development.
 
Tour of The ACU Molten Salt Research Reactor (MSRR)
Following the Policy Workshop, we will take a guided tour of the Molten Salt Research Reactor at Abilene Christian University, where we will explore the role of advanced nuclear technologies in meeting Texas' growing energy demand. The bus will depart from Abilene immediately following the tour in order to return attendees to the Capitol on Friday afternoon.
