NYSX Meets & Mingles: A Love Fest for All!

Introducing: NYSX Meets & Mingles

A quarterly series of casual gatherings, bringing together new friends and old in a space where new connections can bloom and community bonds can get stronger. Some might be creative in vibe (like an open mic or poetry reading), some might be more focused on networking and building support systems, and some will be pure silly fun!

A Love Fest for All

The Back Room at Black Forest Brooklyn - 181 Smith Street

For the first Meet & Mingle of 2026, we're inviting you to join us at the Smith Street location of Black Forest Brooklyn for a post-Valentine's day evening of get-to-know-you games, story-telling, and great food and drink. The theme is Love in all its forms: romantic, platonic, enduring, unrequited, love of family, love of pets, whatever warms your heart or makes it skip a beat. Couples, singles, BFFs, second-dates - all are welcome! Bring your friends, meet some new ones, and spend a cozy night with NYSX.

Meets & Mingles are free admission, but we do like to give our host venue a rough idea of how big our crowd will be - if you're planning to join, please hit that RSVP button and let us know!

What to Expect and When:

If you need to come late and/or leave early, here's the rough plan for the evening so you don't miss the part you're looking forward to most!

6pm - Guests start to arrive / Get Mingling cards with conversation starter questions

6:30pm - Welcome from NYSX / Mingling

7pm - Storytelling Round 1 - Shakespeare and your Love Life

7:30pm - Break for more Mingling

8pm - Storytelling Round 2 - Love, NYC-Style

8:30pm - Sharing answers and anecdotes from the Mingling chats (there will be a few small prizes for the most unique answers!)

Your Chance to Speed Date NYSX!

During the two main Mingling periods (6:30pm and 7:30pm), we will have a spot where our Board Chair and Artistic Director will be available to chat with you for a few minutes about opportunities to get involved with NYSX this year, what your interests and/or areas of expertise are, and whether this might be the beginning of a beautiful friendship...

Accessibility info:

The venue for this meetup is at street level, with a single door (non-automatic) for entry. Restrooms are on the same level, off the back room where we will be gathering; all restrooms are single occupancy, and one of them is ADA accessible (and also includes a changing table).

The closest subway station to this venue is the F/G station at Bergen St (stairs only). The closest elevator-accessible stations are the Borough Hall station (2/3/4/5 trains) and the Jay Street-MetroTech station (A/C/F/R trains). The closest MTA bus stop is right outside the restaurant - Smith St/Warren St (B57 line).
