Introducing: NYSX Meets & Mingles
A quarterly series of casual gatherings, bringing together new friends and old in a space where new connections can bloom and community bonds can get stronger. Some might be creative in vibe (like an open mic or poetry reading), some might be more focused on networking and building support systems, and some will be pure, silly fun!

ETG Book Cafe - 208 Bay St, Staten Island
In celebration of both National Poetry Month and Shakespeare's birthday week, we are hosting an open-mic event that will marry the vibrant voices of local poets and spoken-word artists sharing their original work with the voices of local actors and Shakespeare fans sharing their favorite speeches or sonnets from the Birthday Bard.
If you would like to perform: please drop us a note at info@nysx.org so we can add you to our roster (we are currently limiting each performer to one piece, with a maximum length of four minutes).
If you're planning to attend just to watch: please hit the RSVP button at the top of this page and let us know! Walk-ins are welcome, but we do like to give our host venue a rough idea of how big our crowd will be.
Accessibility info:
Our venue has an entrance at street level (single-door, not automatic), and the event will be happening in the front room of the venue, closest to the entrance. However, please be aware that the restroom can only be reached by climbing a short flight of stairs to the middle area of the store, and then another single step up into the restroom itself.
The closest MTA bus stops to this venue are at Victory Blvd/Bay Street (S46, S48, S51, S61, S62, S66, S76, S74, S78, S81, S84, S86, S91, S92, S96, and S98 lines). The closest rail stop (SIR line) is Tompkinsville (stairs-only station).
