Once Upon a Christmas Miniature

Once Upon a Christmas Miniature is a festive holiday experience for children and families inspired by Pearl S. Buck’s beloved story Christmas Miniature. Taking place at the Pearl S. Buck International Cultural Center (Red Barn) on December 6, 2026, from 2–4 p.m., the event invites families to celebrate the season through storytelling, creativity, and holiday traditions.

Children will enjoy a puppet show adaptation of Christmas Miniature, decorate their own holiday cupcake and gingerbread cookie, participate in festive crafts, and explore the beautiful Festival of Trees in the Pearl S. Buck House. Families will also have the opportunity to take their own photos with Santa, creating a special holiday memory. Ticket holders will also receive $1off admission (Reg. $5) to the Pearl S. Buck Volunteer Association Juried Craft Show happening the same day in the Welcome Center. 

This fun-filled afternoon combines the magic of Pearl S. Buck’s story with hands-on activities and the festive atmosphere of the Festival of Trees—making Once Upon a Christmas Miniature a wonderful new holiday tradition for families at Pearl S. Buck International.

Puppet show starts promtly at 2pm. It is advised to come at least 10-15 mins early to secure your child's spot for the show.

Children 2 and Under are Free. 

Children 2 and Up $35 includes all activities, crafts, and Festival of Trees entry.

Adults $10 includes Festival of Trees entry and Coffee/Hot Coco
