About This Event
Discover how poetry can nurture mindfulness, creativity, and healing, serving as a gateway to holistic wellness.
Together, we’ll explore insightful poems and quotes, engage in meaningful discussions, and participate in writing exercises. This month we will focus on Riding the Waves of Change.
✨ how to adapt and be more receptive to change.
✨ positive transformation as a result of change.
✨ identifying the source of your hope
The safe, supportive space we co-create invites us to reflect on our experiences, to listen deeply to other’s, and perhaps even reshape our understanding of poetry itself.
Poem-making, when approached as a therapeutic, healing and transformational process, provides an opportunity for increased self-awareness and growth.
By incorporating presence, mindfulness, and intent listening throughout our practice, we help one another unlock creative expression accessible through the weaving of words.
Our Poetic Medicine Circle provides a refuge to engage openly with others, cultivating connection through sharing our writing, all while welcoming people of any poetry background. No prior experience with poetry required.
Participant Testimonials
"I learned that it is important to find time to connect with your thoughts and feelings in a safe environment."
"I learned that it is OK to allow myself to express myself through words."
"I liked that people who normally would never be in a poetry class fully participated and learned they are capable of more than they limit themselves to."
"It reminds me that I have more to offer."
"I liked sharing a creative, healing space with like-minded participants"
Sign up for this circle and join us for the monthly series, every 3rd Thursday 7-9PM.
Poetry circles are FREE! Donations welcome. 100% of contributions support people in recovery from mental health challenges - stress, trauma, addiction and disability.
Many thanks to Open Hearts Foundation, Solano County, and Yocha Dehe Community Fund for ensuring our workshops are accessible to all.
Poetry as a Tool for Wellness is a program developed by The Institute for Poetic Medicine, a nonprofit founded in 2005 by poet-educator John Fox, PPM. For over 20 years, these poetry circles offered welcoming spaces for self-expression and creativity.
