Community Safety & Awareness Program

About This Event

The Community Safety & Awareness Program is a six-week, hands-on learning experience designed to help adults with Down syndrome become safer, more confident, and more independent in their daily lives.

Participants will engage with law enforcement officers, public safety professionals, and community leaders through interactive workshops, real-world scenarios, and community experiences centered around personal safety, online safety, situational awareness, emergency preparedness, and self-advocacy. Classes will take place throughout the UCF/Valencia Downtown Campus and surrounding community, giving participants opportunities to practice the skills they learn in real-life settings.

Program Details

Dates: Wednesdays, August 19 – September 23

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Location: UCF Downtown Campus and community partner locations

Eligibility: FOUNDATION members ages 18 and older

Registration: Limited to 15 participants

Cost: $150 per participant (No one will be turned away due to financial hardship.)

Thanks to the generous support of Orlando Health, this innovative program is offered at a significantly reduced cost to participating families.
