Fairy House Workshop

Join Steep Rock Association for a kid-friendly workshop where children can create their own fairy houses using natural materials with guidance from adults. Participants should bring supplies gathered mindfully from around their own homes and are encouraged to take their fairy houses back with them to emphasize the “take nothing, leave nothing” mission of the preserves. Additional materials will be provided by the hosts.

Along the way, children will learn about the homes and habitats of small critters and insects and explore age-appropriate themes of land stewardship. Inspired by the idea of tiny guardians who help protect the environment, children will discover how even the smallest beings play an important role in caring for nature.

A fun, related children’s book will be featured along the nearby Story Walk for families to enjoy. Hosted at the Mnuchin Family Pavilion near Macricostas Preserve. Ages 4+. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
