Mindfulness Hike at Macricostas Preserve

About This Event

Join us for this approx. 90 minute, moderate hike (steep in some areas, flat in others, beautiful views!) Instructors: Roxanne Kraft, Alan Arellano, Jenia Molnar

Mindfulness boosts memory and focus, promotes empathy, and reduces stress. Hiking helps build stronger muscles and bones, improves sense of balance, supports heart health and improves quality of sleep.

Roxanne is a long-time Washington resident and currently on the Steep Rock Board and Committee chair.. She enjoys hiking and backpacking and can be frequently seen hiking in the Steep Rock Preserves with her canine companion, Fritz. She has her Mindfulness Teacher Certification and has been practicing Mindfulness for many years, incorporating the practice into the outdoors.

Alan has traveled extensively throughout the US hiking and backpacking in many National Parks and Monuments. He works for the Mayflower Inn as an outdoor Adventure Guide and is certified in NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School). Alan is also a Veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He served in Search and Rescue Operations and Law Enforcement.

Jenia splits her time between New York City and New Milford, where she loves to hike trails around Litchfield County, although her favorite spots are within the Steep Rock Preserves. Having grown up in NYC, she didn’t begin hiking until 10 years ago, when she booked at the spur of the moment a vacation at a “hiking spa” in Vermont and has been happily lacing up hiking boots ever since. She also has a daily meditation practice, which is helpful in dealing with the NYC traffic.
