About This Event
In a time when building just and peaceful communities requires so much change, it can be confusing and overwhelming to understand how to get involved. Beyond familiar activities like attending a protest or volunteering with a nonprofit, how does social change actually occur? How do we recognize progress? And where do our own unique gifts and passions fit it?
In this 3-hour interactive, participatory workshop, we will:
-
Discuss the nature and characteristics of “people power” and social change
-
Explore the broad ecosystem of approaches to social change and how they work together
-
Map the cyclical patterns of momentum and involvement in social change movements
-
Reflect on how our own passions and relationships can help us find our way into social change roles
Drawing upon the wisdom of multiple social movement traditions, this workshop will help you to better recognize and understand the ups and downs of social progress, appreciate and draw connections between different approaches to social change, and discern your own next steps in getting more deeply involved in the work of transforming our communities with compassion, equity, and justice.
In order to protect the safety of participants and organizers, this workshop will not be recorded. The slides and resources will be shared with all who register.
Price: $10-75
Choose the ticket price that best suits your financial ability.
This training is part of a series of workshops preparing people to organize for justice, resist authoritarianism, and build a better tomorrow. Check out other workshops here.
