About This Event

We are pleased to announce The ROW is ON for June 21st!

Project Hoeppner is once again partnering with Lake Champlain Maritime Museum to present the 7th annual HOPE for TomorROW.

If you've joined us in the past, things will be a little different this year. We’re not going to worry about fundraising, but focus more on hugs, being together, and continuing to spread light where shadows linger.

The Hope Row will be free to all participants. As in the past, bring your positive attitude, your willingness to make a difference in someone’s life, and your spirit for an adventure on the water. We will still have T-shirts, lunch, team spirit prizes, and a fantastic raffle courtesy of our generous sponsors!

Although the future of Project HOePpnEr is uncertain, we hope the mission, to increase awareness and prevention of teen suicide by encouraging important discussions, will continue with each of you. The community that has come together these past years is incredible – we are so grateful. You are making a difference, whether you see it or not.

Let’s unite once again as a community to connect and show our support for one another. Round up your crews and get ready for another row to NY and back!

-------

This all-inclusive row was inspired by Paul's love of rowing. NO experience is required for this so-much-fun row to New York - about 2 miles roundtrip.

The Maritime Museum provides 4-oar and 6-oar pilot gigs and life jackets. Each boat will be assigned an experienced rower as coxswain. Register individually or as a team. Virtual rowers and volunteers can also sign up here.

There will be two round-trip rowing sessions early in the day. The rough schedule is below but will be largely dictated by Mother Nature. Please be prepared to be flexible and patient!!

  • 8:30-9:00 check-in wave 1
  • 9:00 intro/launch wave 1
  • 10:30-11:00 return, lunch, etc.
  • 11:00-11:30 check-in wave 2
  • 11:30 intro/launch wave 2
  • 1:00-1:30 return, lunch, etc.

Fundraising

We won’t be fundraising for Project HOePpnEr this year. However, if you wish to support an organization, we encourage your donation to the Howard Center,  Lake Champlain Maritime Museum Longboats program supporting teens in our community, Bring Change to Mind at CVU, or your favorite mental health organization. There will be opportunities to support some of these organizations  on the day of the event as well.

Our Story

The statistics are frightening. Suicide is still the second leading cause of death in the US for people ages 15 - 34, and Vermont's suicide rate is higher than the national average.

Project Hoeppner was created by Joe and Sue Hoeppner after they lost their 17 year old son Paul to suicide in 2018. The organization’s mission is to increase awareness and prevention of teen suicide. Working with local schools and organizations, they provide resources and opportunities for important conversation.

HOPE for TomorROW is a way to come together in remembrance and hope.
