Prop Up Your Voice

Registration ends Monday, 06/08/2026 11:59pm EDT

About This Event

Inspired by the Broadway musical SUFFS, broadcasting LIVE on Friday, May 8, on WFYI, we invite you to engage with the story before stepping into the conversation. Not able to snag a Watch Party Kit before May 1? That's okay! Discussion questions will be sent in advance of the event!

Join us on Tuesday, June 9, at The Indianapolis Propylaeum for a highly interactive, community-centered experience. This is not a lecture—it’s a conversation. Come ready to share your perspective, listen to others, and engage in meaningful dialogue about the history of women’s suffrage and the ongoing importance of using your voice today.

Roundtable discussion topics include:

  • The Past That Built the Path: Historical Context on Suffrage
  • How Change Actually Happens: Activism & Strategy
  • From Stage to Reality: Reflecting on SUFFS the Musical
  • Who Holds the Power?: Influence, Voice & Representation
  • Progress, Pushback & What’s Next: Barriers & Backlash

We especially encourage you to bring the next generation with you. Designed for ages 12+, this experience creates space for cross-generational learning, connection, and conversation—because understanding our past and shaping our future happens best when we do it together. Thanks to the partnership of our friends at WFYI and Indiana Humanities, this program is free and open to the public.

SCHEDULE:

5:00 PM - Lawn is open for picnicking! Water, tea, and lemonade will be available.

6:00 PM - Short Presentation & Roundtable Discussions* plus ongoing Button & Sign-making!

*Each person will have the opportunity to partake in up to three, 15-minute roundtable discussions

7:30 PM - Conclusion
