About This Event
Join Karen Morse and explore the saltwater, forested, wetland, and meadow areas of Carkeek Park in King County. We will start at the trail sign near the Carkeek pump station. We will walk towards the wetland area which has been recently modified by beavers. Then we will walk along the bluff and up to the meadow (elevation about 240 ft). The trails can be a bit steep and rocky so please wear hiking shoes. After visiting the meadow we will continue our loop towards the salmon imprint pond in the more heavily forested area. This part of the walk should be about 1-1.5 miles and take about 2 hours. After that, if people want to do a bit more birding, we can walk down the Piper's creek trail out and back. The total distance of this part should be about a mile and take about an hour and may include some more uphill.
