About This Event
Discovery Park is Seattle’s largest park with a wide variety of habitats. Ebird lists the park hotspot as having the second highest number of species in the state. We will explore the park on a walk of about 2-3 miles on a mix of paved and gravel paths. There is some elevation gain and loss but nothing very extensive. During early summer, we can expect to see many species including Cooper’s Hawks and Ravens which nest in the park. The mixture of habitats attracts woodland as well as grassland birds. We won’t be going down to the beach because it makes for a long walk up the bluff. Neil Zimmerman has been leading bird walks for 35 years at Discovery Park and knows the park well. All levels of birding expertise welcome. Meet at the South Parking Lot just off W Emerson St. Bring your water bottle and a snack.
