Heritage Preaching Lectures 2026

Join us on Thursday, October 1st for Heritage Preaching Lectures. 

This year, Heritage Theological Seminary is pleased to welcome Dr. Matthew Kim to be our speaker for the day.

Matthew D. Kim is professor of preaching and pastoral leadership, holder of the George W. Truett Endowed Chair in Preaching and Evangelism, and director of the PhD in preaching program at Baylor University’s Truett Seminary in Waco, Texas. He received degrees from Carleton College, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and The University of Edinburgh. He served in pastoral ministry as a youth pastor, college pastor, and senior pastor for a decade prior to his teaching ministry. Matt is a past president of the Evangelical Homiletics Society and a senior fellow of the Center for Pastor Theologians. He is the author and editor of numerous books, including most recently,Ready to Preach: An Introduction to Homiletics and _Becoming a Friendlier Church: A Pathway to Genuine Community_both published by Baker Publishing Group in 2026. Matt was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He and his family currently live in Waco, Texas, and are active members at Highland Baptist Church.

New this Year: Aspiring Pastors Lunch

For attendees who aspire to preach more including associate pastors, students, lay-preachers, elders, etc. join us to hear from Pastor Jeremy McQuoid from Grandview Baptist Church in Kitchener about how to grow in preaching and have an opportunity to ask questions.

Speaker Bio:
Jeremy was born in Northern Ireland to missionary parents and spent his early life in Ethiopia. He was called to ministry in his teens, and, following a spell as a Modern Languages teacher, earned his Master of Divinity and doctoral degrees in the USA. He was a Teaching Pastor in the UK for 25 years before arriving at Grandview in October 2025. A former chair of Keswick Ministries, Jeremy is passionate about expository preaching and training up younger leaders. He is married to Elizabeth, commissioning editor for the Opal Trust, which provides resources for Majority World Pastors, and they have 3 sons - Mark, Daniel and Nathan. Jeremy is a fan of reading, movies and watching Chelsea FC.

The Heritage Preaching Lectures is an event that seeks to equip and encourage pastors and other ministry leaders with the tools needed to sharpen their skills to serve their churches and congregations.
