About This Event

Race Literacy Immersion

It’s hard to help solve a problem we don’t understand.

Race impacts everyone. Our race, as perceived by others, can impact how we are treated, the neighborhoods we live in, and the schools we attend. Although we talk about it a lot and may have strong opinions on the topic, few have learned anything formally about race.

Race Literacy Immersion One Day Workshop

  • Rooted in scripture, provides a theological underpinning to discuss race

  • Dives into the history of racial ideology that has been used to oppress and divide people

  • Grounded in nearly 30 years of experience working in underserved communities in DC

  • Challenges assumptions about race and racism and deepens understanding of systemic racism

  • Shifts paradigms to engage in the deep and difficult work of embodying biblical justice and righteousness

  • Encourages participants to become peacemakers in a divided church and broken world

  • Interactive, with facilitated small group discussions included - one facilitator for every 3-6 participants

  • Taught by Steve Park, Founder and Executive Director of Little Lights, and supported by a multiethnic group of trained facilitators
