Water and Climate Change: Alameda Backyard Growers Workshop

About This Event

Hosted by Alameda Backyard Growers!

Join Alameda County Master Gardeners Irene Beebe and Max Fairbee for an insightful presentation titled "Water and Climate Change." This session dives into the heart of sustainable landscapes—exploring what sustainability truly means and, more importantly, how to achieve it in your own backyard. You’ll learn how to master the essentials of water conservation through the "building blocks" of healthy soil, mulch, compost, and smart irrigation methods.

Is there a place for a thriving edible garden in a water-efficient landscape? Spoiler alert: YES! Irene and Max will show you how to grow food while being a steward of our environment. They will also cover advanced strategies for reducing municipal water use, such as rainwater harvesting and the practical implementation of greywater systems. Don’t miss this chance to future-proof your garden!

You'll also have the opportunty to hear about the REAP Climate Center - and feel free to come early or stay late if you'd like to also join REAP's Sunday Volunteer day!

A signed REAP waiver is required for all attendees - please fill this out before you arrive!

RSVP required, donation encouraged!

Hope to see you here and learn together!
